Re: Aussie C10 Pickup project

Yeh was a bit surprised myself......they must be a bit hard to get without a lot of rust. I can put up with all of the dents but i hate doing rust.

Re: Aussie C10 Pickup project

So are the parts prices pretty high down under? Do you have to order mostly from the States?

Re: Aussie C10 Pickup project

Some are reasonable but most of them i just buy out of the U.S takes 2 or 3 weeks so just work the build time around those delays. Some dealers wont post out side the U.S cant work that out really no difference writing U.S on the package to Australia and with our dollar a little better its no big deal. Found a smooth tailgate skin on ebay but seller said to hard to send to Australia and said dont know where it is anyway...

Re: Aussie C10 Pickup project

Cool, glad you don't have to do that. I knew that you had to do the conversion to register the car, but didn't know about the exemption for the older ones!

Re: Aussie C10 Pickup project

Yeh it has its benefits I can also put it on historic registration and reduces the cost to around $150.00 per year to do so instead of the usual $600.00

Wow, that's a lot compared to here. I have my truck registered as an antique in my state for $25. For life!

Re: Aussie C10 Pickup project

You're lucky to be able to do that. I would like to visit Australia sometime, but it's a pretty expensive trip.

Re: Aussie C10 Pickup project

well a container was due to leave California and one of the cars wasnt ready to be packed so the guys drove around and found my one for $100.00. So they packed it and sent it. I paid for the shipping etc which owed me $3000.00 landed here. It was a roller which suited me just fine as I had motor etc already

Re: Aussie C10 Pickup project

Thats a heckuva deal for such a long transport. I know a guy here who used to ship Falcon XBs from there over to here and sell them at quite a profit. Used to convert some of them into Mad Max clones. He still has one.
