Classic Car Insurance
Are there any insurance companies that DO NOT require a garage or storage unit to house your classic car in?
IMO it it easier to obtain health insurance with pre-existing medical conditions than to insure your truck without a garage. |

Re: Classic Car Insurance
american collectors insurance works for me, and i park them outside. But i only have $5k coverage on the wrecker. It all depends on what you have for a vehicle, and how much you want to cover it.

Re: Classic Car Insurance
Yup, over a certain amount it is required. that why i said it depends on what he has and wants for coverage, but not on a cheap clunker like my wrecker it doesn't need to be. lol

Re: Classic Car Insurance
I don't know of any companies that don't ask about a private locked garage....
maybe check with a standard carrier.

Twouvakind are you asking if there's an insurance company that will insure your truck as an "Antique" and still have it used as a daily driver? Or are you asking if there's an company that will insure it as an "Antique" yet keep it in your driveway? Or both? I've always agreed that since I'm going to own my '68 then I WANT it in a LOCKED & Secure Dry place. But at the same time, the first year I owned my truck I didn't have a garage, I had a double carport, but since I knew I'd be moving to a place with one I knew it was only a matter of time. I don't know of any company that will insure for the "Agreed Value" while it can be kept outside. I'd say get a Battery disconnect, a Kill Switch and a Nice cover and then tag it and Insure it as a regular DD.

Re: Classic Car Insurance
Thanks for the feedback! I don't have a show truck but I do have a short bed 72 C10. I have a car as a DD but would like to drive the truck around at will on any given day as I slowly do my own work on it(can't wait to get that stage 1 SMI qjet back!)
I guess the insurance companies are real sticklers on a locked garage but that is little consolation as conventional insurance companies would rapidly balk at any "agreed value" if the truck was crunched or stolen out of the strip mall parking lot. Maybe I will "shop around" and see which company would give me the greatest coverage sans the garage. |

Re: Classic Car Insurance
Start building as what's it worth file. Take many pictures, save every receipt, document all upgrades. You'll need this as ammo in a worst case scenario no matter what kind of insurance you end up getting. Even with classic insurance you can't insure a $500 dollar rust bucket for $5,000 dollars.

Re: Classic Car Insurance
Im doing a frame off restomod on mine and its going to be my daily driver if it ever gets finished and I will be faced with trying to get some kind of coverage on it .It can be parked in a locked garage at home but most companys wont insure a daily driver .My other classics are insured with Hagerty's and they told me they wont do daily drivers at all.

Re: Classic Car Insurance
I have had 2 claims with Hagerty and have had no problems whatsoever ,I highly recomend them. One of my claims was pretty major on my wifes 72 malibu convertible and they took care of it very quickly. They just dont do daily drivers.
