Wheel and tire question
Hoping you guys can make this pretty painless...
My 1960 swb has a 63 front end under it, stock rear end, 6 lug all around w no disc brakes. I'm lowering it 3/5 next week, and then it will be time for a wheel and tire change as the 295 series that are on it now would rub. I'm wanting to go with a smoothie style wheel, either all blacked out or w chrome trim and baby moons with some white walls. Places like jegs and summit have the wheels priced pretty decent, I'm just unsure as to what rear spacing to have on the wheels say on a 15x7 or 15x8? Also, what tire sizes do you think would go best with these wheel sizes? These wheels should have no problem working right, as long as I choose the right backspacing and get them in 6x5? Thanks again, and any pictures relating to the topic would be greatly appreciated! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Wheel and tire question
When I ordered a set of 15X7's Rally wheels they had a 4 inch backspace and that fit great and I had a 4.5/4 drop. The tires I used were 275/60R15. But that was with a 4 inch drop in the rear not a 5.

Re: Wheel and tire question
I'm running 275/60/15's on 15x8 rallies. No rubbing. This is with the stock drums up front. If you are lowering with spindles and disc brakes it most likely will move your wheels out 3/4" per side so you need to take that into concideration. A 295 tire is pretty wide for a 7" wide wheel also.

Re: Wheel and tire question
Yes. There parts are good there customer service is horrible. Also they do not let you return anything unless it is damaged. I tried to return something that was still in the box and they wouldn't let me. And make sure that the wheels are not bent before you mount the tires. I heard about a guy finding out after he had the tire mounted that the wheel was bent and they would not let him return them.
