1970 C-30 Wheel help

I searched the forum but didn't find the answer to my question. My Nephew got a 1970 1 ton GMC truck. It still has the split rims and the 1/2 inch studs. 71 and later are 9/16, what can we use to get away from the split rims and the best way ( ok cheapest) to do it.

Thanks
Mike & Brian

Re: 1970 C-30 Wheel help

A buddy of mine had the same issue, he found some tubing that was 1/2 ID and 9/16 OD and made some bushings. he has had it that way for about 3 years now. I will ask him where he got the tubing. Coop

Re: 1970 C-30 Wheel help

I have a set of new lug nuts that will allow you to run the newer wheels with the 9/16 tapered lug holes. (PM me) Bought them for my wrecker but ended up getting wheels that didn't need them.

Re: 1970 C-30 Wheel help

We have always done the new lug nuts and 80's style wheels. Try to find the correct hub piloted wheels if you are going to be using it for real heavy hauling.
