'12 Grand National Roadster Show

Some pics for y'all. It was a good show. Would have been better with about 50,000 less people... But then again, they were all probably thinking the same thing To say it was crowded was an understatement. Anyhoo, cool show, not too many trucks, but then again it is a roadster show (no, it's not, not really). Saw a few faces out there - got a glimpse of Justin at Scott's but he was swamped with people, Troy Ladd of Hollywood Hot Rods was there with his gang and also saw Ted's Rod shop guys out there. Neat to see what new stuff they've been working on over the past year since the last time all their stuff was on display. I'm thinking I should've gone MUCH later in the day and hung out for the evening festivities, if there were any - says the gates close at 5, but seems it was set up for more. Who knows! What a life, I'd love to build hot rods for a living - gotta admire the guys that have made it work out that way. Cool! Will take a few posts to show the pics. After a while I had to stop taking pics - it was so crowded, there were "picture jams" - either big groups of people standing still waiting for one yahoo to take a friggin pic on his Kodak Instamatic or someone getting all pissed off when you accidentally walk into their pic - while they're standing 50 ft away from the car for a "drama" shot! Ha, it was all good. Crowded, but all nice folks. Here ya go.

Re: '12 Grand National Roadster Show

Thanks for sharing the photos. Overcrowding was the reason I stopped attending decades ago when it was the Oakland Roadster Show. You’d get plugged into a slot in the herd and shuffle along until you at least got downstairs. It was almost impossible to take a picture let alone get a good view of the cars, especially near the entrance.

The pedal cars look really cool, and a photo of the Baskerville roadster was certainly a treat. The one that jumped off the page for me is the 57 Chevy, whether it’s a real Black Widow or not.

Re: '12 Grand National Roadster Show

I'm not sure if that was a real black widow or not - but I love those dang things. I WISH I'd taken a picture of the other one that was located just a few feet from where the "final 8" were located - it had a full stock black widow paint job - white steelies that looked like 18's or 20's (not my favorite part of the car, but it did look killer), and a big block with a cross ram intake and a home-made bat wing air cleaner. Sounds weird, but it was a sweet car. It was one of those I couln't really get a pic of due to the crowds. Oh well, you'll just have to take my word for it!
