question on converting manual brakes to power
This has probably been covered but i couldnt find it on here before work this morning. I've got a 69 chevy with manuel drum brakes all the way around. is there any way to convert to power without switching to a disc front end? Better yet would there be any parts i could get from a salvage yard to do the swap off maybe a little bit later model truc? thanks for all the help

Re: question on converting manual brakes to power
There were power drum trucks out there so if you look around you can probably find all the parts you need.
One would have to ask, if you're going to the bother of adding power, why would you consider keeping the drums? You can stop a whole lot better with power discs. With drums you got one big stop then the rest of the day you better plan ahead.

Re: question on converting manual brakes to power
It is as easy as finding a booster off of a similar truck and bolting it on. Make sure to get all the brackets and linkage rods. Took me less than an hour to do and by far the best mod I have done to the truck.

Re: question on converting manual brakes to power
I think the brackets are at least different, if not the connecting rod also.
I used one off of a 69. I believe any off of our years will work. A square body might work, but will probably take some adapting.
