whats up guys? Imdoing somw work on my 350 in my 85 swb. Im gonna change the cam and was wondering what size to use and waht brand. i just want something mild the motor is boerd 30 over. also should i go with vortec heads or just the regular ones i have now

Call Comp Cams and ask to speak to a tech. They are very helpfull and knowledgeable. Tell them engine size, trans, converter, and what you are going to use the truck for (towing or cruizing,etc.) Just google them for their number.

Vortec heads will require an intake swap but will make a good bit more power. If it's a daily driver, don't go too big on the cam. Fender shakers are impressive to listen to, but a royal pain to drive. I'd stick with something small, 224/230 is about as big as I'd consider if you need vacuum for brakes, etc. |

Regarding the cam: First determine what you want the engine to do and at what RPM.
Then pick your cam grind based on that. You'll want to include your differential ratio and tire height in your equations. |
