Carburetor Question
Will a Rochester One-barrel carb off of a 1954 chevy, with supposedly a 261 I-6, match the same size carb off a 1965 Chevy with a 292 I-6? If they do match would they work together running the two carbs together?

Re: Carburetor Question
If it really came off a 261 and it's the original, it may work. Keep in mind that these carbs were engineered for every conceivable configuration so I would get all the info off the carb and do some searching. If the cfm's and jetting are close, I'd give them a try.
btw: I've read the 261 if pretty rare engine. I'd like to come across one of these and put it in my 68. |

Re: Carburetor Question
They usually have larger venturi,s then the 235 carbs. You can look at them from the bottom & see the difference. The air cleaner mountings are going to be different on the 54 & 65. I don't think 2 of them would work good for a dual setup. It probably wouldn't idle good at all. You would be better off with 235 carbs or even 216. The 216 have smaller mounting centers though.
