How large of a spare tire will this fit?

Anyone know the size limitations of these?

31x10.5 on mine too. I'm going to experiment for a member here with the 33x10.5's that I run on the blazer though and see if it can be done.

The room is there, just not sure about the center hole issues yet.

Re: How large of a spare tire will this fit?

FBJ - would love to see a pic of this when you do it...thinking of going 331050s on mine. My interior tire carrier has the single hole instead of the slot and for my 311050 I had to slightly bend the threaded rod to match up, so I am guessing a litte bigger bend would accomodated the 33...

I'm thinking along those same lines. To put my 31x10.5 in there, I bought a longer carraige bolt to make up for the angle. My carrier also has a single hole instead of a slot, so I had to make up for the angle since the center of the wheel sits higher than intended.

To go to a 33, we are only talking a difference of 1" at the center of the rim. So my thoughts are that it's probably do-able with a modified or longer carraige bolt. There is plenty of room for the tire itself, as I have about 6" to the side of the CST panel in the truck right now with the 31" tire.

No worries, I'll post a new thread about it with pictures when I get that far.

To go a step further, what I'm thinking about doing is taking a longer carraige bolt and cutting it, making a dogleg from a piece of steel, drilled and tapped to thread both ends in, then welding it back together to make up the height difference.

Does the tire rub on the seat back at all?

Thanks. I think a 331050 will fit easily with a little adjustment. Plenty of room.

Is that sitting on a 15x8 or 15x6 wheel?

it's a factory 6" wide wheel. Looks great with a 1050 tire IMO, but I am not a deep dish guy...

Re: How large of a spare tire will this fit?

I assume you mean fit the spare tire holder.

Not sure about the 12.5 tire, that's another inch in the back, might get close to the seat but not sure, I'd have to look at mine again.

I know the 10.5 wide fits fine because that's what I have now in a 31". After looking at it more today I see no reason why a 33" tall tire x 10.5 wide wouldn't fit, looks like there is plenty of room, just have to modify the bolt (which I had figured would be the case).

Re: How large of a spare tire will this fit?

A 33 won't fit on the factory tire holder because the holder is not high enough. The extra height of the tire puts the top of the tire holder inside the rim, so there is no rubber resting on the top of the tire holder. I may try to get some kind of bracket fabricated to address this someday.

If you need that mount higher than cut in half and add back another 2" to 3" ,with time and little steel nobody would never know the difference.

A 31 does the same thing. Actually the lip of the rim hits the top of the carrier, but it works.

Or what I was thinking of doing is simply mounting a cross bar to form a "T" and catch the rubber of the tire on both sides for more stability.

I have a 35x12.5 tire I wanted to try and fit. I Think I may want the factory swing away rack to replace this anyways. The Tire takes up way too much room inside the bed. I have an extra interior tire mount Now nad need to find a swing away type. Let me know how it turns out.
