Thanks for posting that. I had hoped to buy a 2012 but doesn't look like it'll happen. I have a '72 and a '92. Back in '92 I figured I'd get a '12 and have told people,"I get a new truck every 20 years whether I need one or not"
 I guess I'll get a used one at some point. I need a '52 and a '32 also...some day. 1912 was the first official year for the GMC brand,but when GM bought Rapid in '09,it was the first year for General Motors Truck Company which was the basis for the GMC name. Happy 100th GMC! Has anybody heard about a 100th anniversary model?

My Grandfather worked at GM for 37 years in the Overseas Division corporate office in NYC. The paperwork for every car, GMC truck, Bus, Electromotive Train engine and Frigidaire Refrigerator went across his desk before they where shipped overseas ! He was credited for developing the first "TND" Totally Knocked Down units shipped by GM in 1919, after his return from WW-1. He did not invent the idea, but took the idea back to GM after seeing FORD loading boxes onto ships at the docks in NYC. After doing some snooping around the loading docks he learned that FORD was saving money and bypassing taxes levied on complete vehicles entering many countries at the time. It was estimated that this method of shipping saved GM almost $400.00 on every vehicle shipped to Europe at the time. This method of shipping became standard operating procedure for every manufacturer for many years, untill the first ships dedicated to shipping cars where constructed. I have been in the automotive industry all my life and owe it all to Grandpa ......

Thank you special K ! I thought more people on this site would have included their thoughts on GMC? if it was not for GMC, The United States would not have won WW-1 and WW-2 ! We would not be enjoying our C-10's C-20's C-30's and all the great GMC's trucks we have today.So lets all take a moment and reflect back on the people who worked overtime at the GM factories to build the machines that make us free today to enjoy our Chevrolet's & GMC.....
