q on cupped lca's
ok i am getting ready to cup the a-arms for my 66 chevy truck. i notice there are 2 ways of doing it cutting a rectangle out of the center piece or doing a 9 inch pipe. i was wanting to do the box shape but was wondering do u just mount the bags in the very center or is it not lined up right .i have that question because i notice on the round 9 inch ones all the ones i see the circle is not centered on the a-arm
this is how i want to do them this is a pic of the circle type

Depending on which bags you run you might get some rub with the "rectangle" method (thus possibly leading to rupture of the bag at the most inconvenient time). So my q for you is which bags are you going to run?

i just did the rectangle method last weekend to fit 8'' bag (dom 2600).Im not comfortable with the lack of clearance i have with the 2600 has so im puttin in the 2500 instead.i could probly get away with it working but had clearance/rub issues on my last bagged truck and the mental stress while driving sucked.Not this time,hopefully.....I can take a pic or 2 if needed.My arms are still off the truck.

like seven one said, there is not enough room for the d2600 in a rectangle setup, d2600's can expand up to 9" with a neutral bag diameter of 8" and the d2500's with a expanded diameter of 8" and a neutral diameter of 7". but if your not going to be putting a big heavy motor up front or looking to run this in the slalom you can get by with the 2500's but you will get a better ride with the 2600's. The cost of the circles and to have them cut is about $25 if you were unsure of cost.

i haven't bought the materials yet so the cost of the circles is no biggies just like the looks of the rectangle better. so try to get like 9.5 circle if the bags get up to 9? so there is some space all around?

Everyone is right about the rectangle style not having enough clearance. If you notice the circle is cut and opened up to make it bigger too so thats an option if you can't find a 9.5" pipe, just be sure to box it in. A couple of things on this...if you plan on running a sway bar, be sure to leave those holes with enough room for the nuts underneath...and the bag doesn't sit centered on the lca, its a little forward on it. So try using the shock mount on the lca as a center of where the cup should be positioned.

heres a pic of mine.I wasnt planing to run my 2600 in the front but wanted to cut to the max i felt would be safe.I got the clearance i wanted for the 2500 and could still fit the bigger bag if i cut more.The rectangle cups can work its just alotta meat missing imo.....Dom 2600(8" bag) FIRST PIC/ Dom 2500(7"bag) SECOND PIC

I cupped mine using an 8" pipe. Dominator 2600s were too close for comfort. I switched to Dominator 2500s and I actually think it improved the ride.
Just as a side note. I'm not going to say they don't make it, but 9" pipe will probably be difficult to find Posted via Mobile Device |

^^ exactly what i did.
i bought some arms already cupped and they used 8" cups. i took my 2600's out because they were too close for comfort and put my 2500's in. if your using 2600's, dont go any smaller than 9"id pipe. mine did not touch, but i sure didnt want to risk anything even close to rubbing.

could anyone tell me what the typical depth of these cups are? Im cupping my lca's with 2600 bags to accommodate for the weight of a cummins 6bt. I have 10 inch i.d. stainless pipe and im going to section a half inch out of it, just wondering how deep these cups are normally made. thanks!

I think it's 2 inches...but the key is to just not make the drop go below the arm itself.
