Assembly.

Anyone actually logged the time to reassemble their truck? Looks like I've got a job reassembling a 67 longbed for a guy. Not a restore, we are going to reassemble. Frame is done. With 5 lug upgrades. So it's mostly body stuff.

I kept track of the '72 GMC and the '71 Chevy Cheyenne 4x4 when I put them together. The GMC was painted, the glass was in it, and the front clip was on it so it was pretty easy. I had about 125 hours in it. The '71 Cheyenne was completely disassembled, all glass out of it, all interior pieces stripped out including wiring, cab and bed off and I had close to 300 hours in it. I am also keeping track of the '69 Suburban and I have close to 175 hours in it so far but I had to put an engine and trans in it plus the large side windows and windshield. I have a few more things to do to the burb but essentially it is done....That is all working by myself

Re: Assembly.

Mine took about 9 hours....

(lol)

I'm serious: I followed it down the assembly line. I caught it coming down out of paint about 4:30 pm on a Monday. Drove it off the line myself about 1 am Tuesday morning and left the plant, went home and went to bed.

It was sitting at the Chevy dealership by 5 pm Tuesday afternoon.

Now - the rebuild - that's a different story....

It really depends on what you are looking for in a finished product. Could I have done it quicker? Sure, but I am pretty meticulous on that kind of stuff. I also put all new side trim on the Cheyenne which took quite a bit of time. Even the doors were completely disassembled on it. When I say that it was disassembled I'm talking every nut and bolt...

Re: Assembly.

wow, you really went all the way, i'm not going all that far. I just want to help him get it back assembled and he can pick away at the little stuff. I'm probably retarded, but i hate it when someone gets taken.
