floor shifter

Looking for a floor shifter for a 700r4 tranny any ideas on what too look for, at good price and durable. Specific brand ? Thanks to all of you in advance

I here Lokar is a good brand to to with and the look classy/classic.

I bought B&M light truck Megashifter - can be used for 3- or 4-speed automatic, looks pretty cool, paid around $175 a couple of years back

Not a vary good angle but this is what the mega shifter looks like in my truck. In my opinion the plastic black boot looks horrible.

Don't have pics of mine handy, but it came with a curved black textured plastic housing with lighted shift indicator - not the boot

Pics are 2 years old. The interior is completed and covered with a rubber floor mat and beautiful black vinyle shifter boot now.... will need to post pic later.... Its a Gennie Shifter for a 700r4 - 23" swan leg....Old Skool....

Here's my Lokar shifter. It was in the truck when I got it.

Here are some more photos of my Lokar shifter. I have since changed the rod to a straight one so it has better cleanance between the seat in lower gears, but no photos yet. Lokar sells the different rod lengths and angles. Good luck.

I can't locate the part number for the straight shaft, but Lokar will give you the part number if you call them.

Thanks! That shifter looks great in your truck. Was there room on the trans to put it forward a little more to provide more clearance between the seat and the shaft? I like the look of the bent shifter.

I have a Quicksilver ratchet in my S10,can't say I would have bought it myself.B&M makes a good shifter that isn't a ratchet it's around $125.00 in Jegs and it will work on the 700r4.

Did any of you guys convert from stick to auto with the trans mounted Lokar? Were you able to use the existing hole in the hump?

Back in the early 90’s I installed a TH350 with the transmission mounted Lokar. It came through the original 4 speed hole, but I believe I had to trim away about ¼” from the edge of the hole closest to the seat. The boot covered up the modification. FYI, my truck has the high hump with removable pan:

The e-brake assembly was perfect, the only problem was the drum back plates had to be modified a little to accept the cable ends - pretty easy to do with hand tools once the hubs were off (sorry - don't have a pic of this). This was on my full-floating axle - can't comment on others though. Cables were then routed/attached as necessary and adjustment easy. Quality of Lokar stuff is excellent.

Bit different with mine as I'm now on a 77 frame, but I just butchered () the holes and will plate over soon. Only problem is I won't be able to use a stock rubber mat, but was going for simple black carpet so that will be cut to fit, then make a couple of leather boots with off-the-shelf chrome trim rings..
