Re: chasing down a 66
NICE! looks like alot of the hard work is done. What's the story? It looks like the PO got bored and gave up. I agree on the seats, I personally am not a fan of being able to see them in the back window.

Re: chasing down a 66
It has not been touched in over 5years. It was at a hot rod shop and the guy who was having it fixed up pulled the plug due to finances. The guy signed it over to cover his bill five years ago. The owner of the shop was going to fix it up for his son but he decided to sell it to help with another project with his son. He wanted fast cash and I was in the right place at the right time, well maybe not, 13hrs of driving today to hand him a wad cash. He just wanted the labor bill paid $5K; most of the truck had been done but was in the final stages of paint. The cab has been sand blasted and what little rust removed and new metal installed. All front end stuff is new, hood, fenders and most from fire wall forward. He did cab the turn signal holes in the hood and shaved the door handles, not sure if I like it. New tailgate. Needs a seat, carpet and paint on bed sides and doors need some sanding. It had a re-chromed grill and new bumpers. I will get the truck home in a few weeks and will get you guys more info. I may also need some help sourcing some parts. I will keep this thread going.

Re: chasing down a 66
I think you got a real bargain. There’s a lot of expensive equipment and effort already invested. And from what can be seen it looks to have be nicely done. Do you have a preferred direction on the wheels/tires and interior?

Re: chasing down a 66
It might be hard to match that paint.
Looks like a fun project.

Re: chasing down a 66
I did get the paint code, but sometimes even with that the match is tuff. I am thinking of a plain black bench seat with black carpet. I will do the door panels in black. They had some large speakers cut into the lower doors, so I am going to make some panels across the bottom of the door for speakers. I will try to keep posting as I go along. Thanks

Re: chasing down a 66
Not sure if you care or not, but looks like the truck is all chevy stuff and the hood is a GMC... something to think about if trying for the full chevy look.

Re: chasing down a 66
Installing the grille and bumper made that truck really come alive. I really like the color, too. I like dark green metallic. Get the color mixed, and take in a previously painted green part (like the cowl extension) and the paint supply place will get color match dialed in. When it's time to paint it, you can spray the bedsides and do a blend into the doors to eliminate any color mismatch.
The truck is going to be really nice. It looks like someone has already done a lot of work on it.

Re: chasing down a 66
Where did you find the chrome hood striker and the chrome radiator holddown bracket? I've wanted to find these for mine, but haven't came across anyone selling them.
