Stepside rear fender replacement question
My 86 SWB stepside has the fuel door on the driver's rear fender in the front. Replacement (aftermarket) fenders do not come with this in it,.. they come without. The manufacturer states that the fender can be custom cut to fit the door. The factory fender is stamped to recess the door... I'm not seeing how to do this. Is there an aftermarket type fuel neck that mounts to the fender that I can just cut out a hole and install? all help appreciated.

Re: Stepside rear fender replacement question
Did you buy a fender already? Ive been looking at a lot of stepside fenders lately after getting hit and it seems like 79-87 should have the recess for the square fuel door. 73-78 have a surface mounted filler, Just a chrome gas cap in plain sight.

Re: Stepside rear fender replacement question
I'd check around for another vendor or find a clean original fender. Seems like it should be there. Last choice would be to have it cut out of the old one and welded back into the new fender.

Re: Stepside rear fender replacement question
Yea, got the fender already. I'm going to look into a neck for the 73-78, like you said and see if that install wouldn't be alot easier. The current fender is so cancer laden in that area, the option to graf it over to the new fender so I'd have the door, really isn't an option for me.

Re: Stepside rear fender replacement question
I have been going through the same thing. I couldn't find the correct fender new and finally found a used one on Craigslist. The fuel filler assembly just screws in behind the fender if you can find one. I have everything now but the fuel filler hose. I tried a radiator hose, but it's a different diameter at the tank and at fuel door so I'm having trouble finding a hose that will fit.

Greenlee.... Hose is no problem... go to the local Boat parts shop, and get marine fuel filler hose. Bends fairly well, and is bought by I.D. & feet off roll.

I may have a fuel filler neck for 73-76 if you need one
