Chrome 4spd Shifters

Did a search and couldn't find the answer.

Were there chrome 4spd shifters like the transfer case shifters? If so, was it part of a package or was it a listed option on the SPID?

Thanks

Re: Chrome 4spd Shifters

I've seen a few here for sale so I'd say yes and I think it was part of a Cheyenne package. But I'm not 100% for sure on that. Hopefully Sharpie will chime in on this. He'd know for sure.

Re: Chrome 4spd Shifters

What year? I know the Custom Deluxe,Cheyenne, and Cheyenne Super Chevys as well as The Super Custom,Sierra, and Sierra Grandes came with chrome shifters. If the transfer case shifter was chrome, the transmission shifter was, too.

Re: Chrome 4spd Shifters

They definitely made them, that's for sure. I always thought it was only a cheyenne & cheyenne super thing, but Special-K would know better than me, and if he says they came in Custom Deluxe's then so be it.

The one thing i know for sure, is that the single-bend 4x4 chrome shifters are like hen's teeth they are so hard to find! Don't be fooled by one from the 73-87's, many of those are chrome, but have 2 different bends in them.

Re: Chrome 4spd Shifters

Tim, how many tanks did that truck have? 2 or 3? I'm thinking how I can get 3 tanks routed on my truck. Switch and selector valve wise.

That truck had the factory auxiliary tank which was on the driver side. So,it had two tanks,a two-way gauge selector switch, and two-way tank selector valve. My '72 GMC has the aftermarket dual auxiliary tanks. I can show you pictures of my valve. I just put carpet in and haven't re-mounted it yet. The gauge selector is just a three-way toggle switch.

...and this thread is about 4spd transmission shifters. Many '69 and earlier 4wds have had a NP205 swapped in place of the Rockwell 221. Any 4spd truck that came with a chrome transfer case shifter will have a chrome transmission shifter. These will be the trucks that had chrome window trim and deluxe dash knobs.

Re: Chrome 4spd Shifters

Take a look at this Blazer:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1972-...item3372df24e1

It's a CST and has the chrome pedals and vent glass, but no chrome on the shifters. Should they be chrome?

Re: Chrome 4spd Shifters

I would say they are supposed to be, but not sure if blazers were different. I know that the transmission shifter is incorrect. All 4 speed shifters in 4x4 trucks and blazers have only one bend at the bottom. 2wd trucks have the bend at the bottom, and another bend about half way up.

Re: Chrome 4spd Shifters

That looks like a later 4spd shifter. It's hard to say what's original on that. They should be chrome on a CST.
