Have a chance to buy newer truck for parts?
Was wondering if there is much I can strip out or use from a 1996 Tahoe 4x4.
I have two project 1974 and 1983 Chevy short boxes and a 1969 GMC LWB, (all two wheel drive). Truck was offered to me for what the wreckers want to give him, ($500), as the truck still runs and drives but the 5.7 vortec has valve train problem. The truck has a very clean body and interior, bad tires and 146,000 miles on the odometer. Might be possible to fix, but looking at options if I part it out.

Re: Have a chance to buy newer truck for parts?
2 door or 4?
I have a 2 door 4wd Tahoe, best truck I've ever owned. The turning radius with the 4wd front suspension is incredible, it turns tighter than anything I've ever driven. If you can fix it, knock yourself out. As long as the bottom end of the engine is fine, you may need a new set of lifters. That's about a half day project, $200 with new intake gaskets. There's not really anything that will bolt on to either of your other trucks. |
