sway bar question.

I'm Absolutely against the square receivers. For some reason I dislike them. However with a newly acquired airstream I now need an anti-sway bar, well was told i needed. My bumper is rated for 12000lb pull and 1200 tongue. I was curious if i could pull off the spring arms and mount them the the bumper for the same effect.

Re: sway bar question.

Are you talking about the spring arms that are part of a weight distribution hitch? If so, I dont recommend changing it. I'd go with a square receiver and use the weight dist hitch as designed. A anti sway bar for the hitch is another piece of equipment that I would recommend for anything over 22' or so... Maybe a hidden hitch if they bother you that much. I wouldn't sacrafice safety for looks....
Been in the RV industry a number of years and seen a number of accidents from improperly set up hitches....

Re: sway bar question.

here's whats being pulled

the bumper looks normal but is made pretty stout and bolted to the frame with grade 8 hardware. the stick to the bottom right displays the rating.
