Re: B&m Light Truck Megashifter

Not my first choice of shifters but I'm glad to see it works in our trucks. I thought s10 were more what they were geared for hence "light truck". I use lokar in mine direct mount to the trans for a 4on the floor look and a nice right hand rattle

Re: B&m Light Truck Megashifter

Insidious 86 ALL Lokar shifters have reverse lockout. Our shifters are designed to stop in the netrual position when it is moving from any of the selectable gears. If you are not stopping in netrual when going to the park position from 1,2,D or OD there is most likely an adjustment issue. Please contact our tech department toll free at 1-877-469-7440
We will be happy to try and work with you in trying to get the adjustment worked out.
Thank you John

I second that...adjustment issue. I just installed a 16' on my th400. On the first test drive there was no lock out then I fiddled with the knob and lock out cable and voila...100%. Give them a ring, they'll walk you through. Great service.

Re: B&m Light Truck Megashifter

Thanks guys!
Shifter runs about 200bucks from summit racing.com

Lokar has nice shifters also, but i wanted this look.

Only difference in the mega shifter and the light weight truck shifter is the longer cover. And this shifter has adjustable plates to raise or lower the shifter.

My only issue is yes this works but r/n are very short I would rather have a reverse lock not a nuetral lock. Great shifter and I really like it but it isn't so great for a street strip vehicle

Re: B&m Light Truck Megashifter

I had a Lokar double bend trans mount shifter in my truck that the PO installed. I took out the buckets and installed a bench seat. After that the shifter would hit the seat when trying to go into 1st gear. I bought a light truck Megashfiter at a swap meet brand new for $175.00 out the door. Put my Lokar on Ebay and it sold for nearly $190.00. I was very pleased with that aspect of it. Only thing I did not care for was the PO cut a hugh hole in the floor to mount the Lokar shifter.

ive seen some VERY scary stuff happen with the B&M Megashifter and refuse to run one. however, if it works for you thats all that matters.

Re: B&m Light Truck Megashifter

Couple pics i took when I installed it. Took couple of hours.
Its a tight fit because of the stock 4x4 shifter cover.
I wanted to keep it so I notch the other cover to clear it

I'll take another on of the cover tomorrow, i didn't realize the cable was covering it.

Re: B&m Light Truck Megashifter

Lokar looks cool also. But seems like it would be easy to over shift when running it hard up through the gears?

Re: B&m Light Truck Megashifter

looks pretty cool. i have a b&m hammer shifter im about to have installed in my truck. only issue is it seems to be kinda short...i mocked it up yesterday and i have to reach down to grab it. i was thinking maybe i can make a bracket to bring it up a bit so i can reach it.

Call B&M and ask if the adjustment brackets from the truck mega shifter will work. That way you can raise it.

did you cut a fifth hole in the middle to run the shifter through? and did you hook wires up to the switches for reverse lights and safety switch? if so how was that and what did you do? sorry for all the questions i just dont want to tear my truck apart learning how to and how not to by screwing it up

Re: B&m Light Truck Megashifter

yeah, you have to drill out one hole for the shifter cable. I didnt get pics of that thou. As for the switches i was in a rush to put it back together. I need to go back and trace for those wires to hook up.
The instructions are simple and straight foward. You should be fine.
