Locking Gas cap
Hey gang,
With the price of fuel at a premium and my burb has a 50 gallon tank on board....I figured I better protect the precious fossil fuel in the tank  ....or at least keep someone honest.....so question is, do they make a locking gas cap??...does it need to be vented since it's a 72 burb?

Mine had one for years, back in the 70's oil embargo my Dad had to put one on. Since fuel theft was bad, and apparently someone stole fuel from the burb in the middle of the night.

If its like the fuel thefts around here they won't bother with the cap, they will just roll up under it and pop a hole in the tank for gravity feed fill. Only way locking cap would help with that is if you had a decent skid plate under the tank

When I bought my Burb it had a locking gas cap but the guy had lost and he also screwed up the filler neck trying to get it off. Those caps really arent hard to open without a key but at least you have the piece of mind that someone isn't going to pour god knows what in your tank without you knowing it.

Is that one from Summit a match for a 72 burb? I have found quite a few that looked right but did not fit.

Stant 10571 is the correct part number for a non-vented locking 1972 pickup gas cap (based on personal experience on my pickup). Your Suburban should also be non-vented (have a charcoal canister under the hood).
Stant 10491 is vented. I also believe it is not physically interchangeable.
