454 and 700r4
Hey All,
I had posted a message about using either a 350 or a 454 in my 70 Chevy pickup. I have both engines on hand and both are rebuilt. For some reason, the 454 won with 100% of the vote. Hmmm. LOL Here is another question: The 454 is going to get bolted to a 700R4 transmission. Is that enough tranny to do the job? I have a lead foot BTW. I also have a Turbo 400 trans, but it is out of a 4x4 and would need the rear housing changed (and maybe even the rear shaft). Watcha think? Mike

you will have to build up the 700 to handle the troque of a lead foot. if you don't lead foot it much then it should survive, just depends on the year it was built. 87-93 werw the tougher ones from the factory. you can build an older one up but it will be a little more.

Just missed it then. The trans is out of an 85 or 86 Suburban.
Thanks Mike
