Very interesting. Someone on the board has one of these, I think a 78. Here is a picture of what it looks like with no rust and new paint from the 79 GMC pickup brochure:
Interestingly, the one on Ebay has the same interior as the 1980 Indy Hauler I just bought: Getting the title for this thing has been a nightmare, last vehicle I'll buy on Ebay...

The guy told me he would set up shipping from the auto auction where he bought the truck to Portland Oregon (I live near Seattle now, I'm in the Navy). He half assed setting it up and told me a few lies about when it would arrive. After wasting two weeks messing around with that, I flew down and drove the truck back. He claimed in his auction that it had a clean title, but when I picked up the truck, he didn't have ANY title. About three weeks later, I finally got the title. It had been transferred between four different dealers and when I went to the DMV they questioned whether it had been signed to be released by the original owner. Over six weeks later, I still don't have the title in my name and the guy isn't returning my phone calls. Shyster I'd say... I'll be contacting the California DMV to see if this can be a bad mark on his dealer license, and the BBB and leaving bad feedback on Ebay. I think I've given him more than fair opportunity to try to do the right thing, but no luck. As far as the truck goes, it is a real Indy truck but after all this it's almost a bad omen so I don't know how bad I want it.

Dang dude, you need to be in Alabama. If it runs/drives you can get it inspected and retitle it. Sell it to me and I will sell it back to you with a clean title. Alabama - home of washed titles.

Jeff:
Very nice find on eBay! And very rare, too! Truth be told, I would almost rather have this truck with the six because it seems like such an odd combination! Anyway, this should lay to rest the rumors that Sports/Street Coupes automatically shipped with 454's, or even V8's, for that matter! Ken |

I didn't know there was a rumor about the Chevy Sports/Street Coupes being shipped with any engine combo. The only required option I've found to go with the Z77 option is ZY6 paint. My 1979 Chevrolet Light Duty Truck Sales Album also says "This option includes all items in the Scottsdale Model Option plus the additions or substitutions listed below" on the page that describes this package.

You are absolutely right; the only reason I referred to a rumor is because I recall that 454-powered Street Coupes were typically tested by magazines of the day, and their editorial staffs often implied that the 454 was a standard part of the package. Or if they didn't imply it, the readers often assumed the 454 was included. But as you see, the data book (usually) tells all! Ken |

I really like this "street coupe" truck. Paint is kinda ugly but I still like it. My computer has no image card so all I see are dots but is that a wierd grill in ElGracho's pic or is it just me?

Tom, that isn't the orginal grille, it's a cheapo square tube grille that was on the truck when I bought it. I have an original one that I need to repaint in the original colors for an Indy truck. Too many projects...
