Re: What did you get done April Fools 4/1/12 edition
picked up a pair of these bad boys from a local jeep shop.
they only stocked em for 2.5" axle tubes so ground them down for my 3.5 tubes and drilled a new hole to relocate the axle back .5" then welded them up. Cut a coil off the front and here it is.. just need to get some spindles... so far a 2.5/7 drop for $20 Some new addition to the paint thanks to my room mate.. he says "its lots of rat but not so much rod." oh and ordered my grill. Re: What did you get done April Fools 4/1/12 edition
Took a trip to the Urgent Care after cutting the flange off of a set of dually hubs with a gringer. I was preping them to get turned down into single wheel hubs and ended up with a piece of metal in my eye.

Took the Heap for a little 600 mile cruise, nice trip, felt good to get out on the interstate. Of course my wallet wasn't impressed with the fuel cost. LOL.

Good the doc pulled the shaving out and gave me eye drops. What Sucks is I put safety glasses on and the shaving went above them.

Re: What did you get done April Fools 4/1/12 edition
Well Friday Installed the new bench and drove over to my moms Saturday but when my friend arrived he laughed and asked if it ran. So I started it up only to notice it bogging down. Open the hood only to notice the inline fuel filter leaking gas. Come to find out the new filter was plastic (Should of listened to bob and bought a metal one) so luckily i replaced it with the old glass part....
Saturday I got my brothers helped and removed the doors, replaced the pins, bushing, and one of the hinges. Installed the missing driver side rear channel, welded the bolt location that was partially cracked, installed a new steering wheel, and all new window weather stripping. Im happy to say now with a smaller steering wheel, a bench that goes all the way back, and a driver side window that rolls up, I can drive comfortably

Re: What did you get done April Fools 4/1/12 edition
That's' happened to me twice, I now carry one of those extending style magnets in my pocket (when cutting/grinding metal). The magnet has cleaned out my eye a couple times. Probably should wear a shield with my glasses.

I was grinding all the casting flanges off my 350 block before i sent it out for machining and thought it wuld be a good idea to wear them for once. LOL, damn piece got in anyways. My luck. Glad to hear the Doc got it out. As for what i got done this weekend, new Grill and Headlight Bezels installed and went to the parts house to puck up all the stuff to totally redo the front end next weekend.

Started to install auxiliary trany cooler early Sunday morning. Did not get the chance to finish, but 95% of bracket, supports are in place now. After that tube bending and cutting. Slow and easy does it....

Re: What did you get done April Fools 4/1/12 edition
Changed both door window motors AND WOW! I didn't know these square body windows could move that fast! I did take out the regulators and pressure wash 25 years of Oklahoma off of them though. With all new weatherstripping and windows that will actually close, it sure is nice ridin down the road with the A/C on and be able to carry on a nice conversation without screaming.
Also managed to wrap up the door panel adventure and everything turned out very nice. Got the ol' 1998 model Clarion installed as well. I spent $15 on the Meta (sp) install kit and glad I did. I also hit up Harbor Freight for the $19.99 air saw and used it to cut the dash. That is the way to go. I took my time and the average Joe would never know the radio wasn't factory. I got all the major cracks and speaker holes filled with expanding foam and blocked out flat. I will be putting some lightweight flexible filler on soon and finish up the dash project all together. The newly sewn vinyl cover should go on very nicely now. I will post up some pics when it is all back together. Only thing on interior left to do is new carpet and sound deadener and make the brackets for my Burb buckets and console. Oh yeah, and a new A/C compressor. I scored a brand new Delco R4 compressor from a GM dealer for $199.00. I bought the dryer and orifice tube from Autozone. Will get it all installed and charged back up this weekend. After all of this, I plan on taking a break for a while and enjoy the last years worth of had work and dollars spent.

Re: What did you get done April Fools 4/1/12 edition
A couple of nights last week, I sanded on my 'new' used wheels for the dually. 180 grit w/the DA to get the bad gouges out (somehow I didn't see them before....) then started blocking them w/some 320. I stopped for now after just rubbing over them w/Scotchbrite until I decide how I want to proceed (brushed/polished). If I polish, I still need to hit them w/600 & then some 1200. My fingers are already sore so the brushed is very appealing .
In between, I built a notched crossmember & welded up a couple of exhaust hangers.
