Installing a I6
Hey all! I have just finished rebuilding a I6 (250) and am getting ready to drop it into my 67 big back window long box fleetside. My question is does anyone have a step by step guide on how to do this? Looked in the forums and did not find anything. I am just pulling the old 250 (seized) and putting in the one that I have rebuilt. Still using the 3 on the tree tranny.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, David |

Re: Installing a I6
It's not a huge deal to swap. You will need to pull the hood, rad, fan, motor mounts, wiring and hoses.I don't remember ever installing one with the tranny in.Make sure you align the clutch, and assembly with an old input shaft or alignment tool. The rear of the tranny will probably need to be supported with a floor jack since there will be some flex in the rubber mounts on the bellhousing.

Re: Installing a I6
^^^
Thats how I did mine. Remove driveshaft, pull trans from bell housing. Remove hood, radiator, and fan. Pull engine. I did it all by myself with an engine hoist and a floor jack (for trans) As Chiltons would say, installation is the reverse of removal.
