column shifting issues
I installed a new printed circuit on my '70 Blazer this afternoon, put everything back together and ****, my whole shift and steering column seem to rotate and shift. I can simply pull the column shifter to the right, my whole steering column will rotate and shift... I have no idea what can possibly be broken or misaligned... any help or ideas? where is the catch to stop the column from rotating? any fool proof steps to reinstall my column so I can get to work by tuesday would be appreciated.

Re: column shifting issues
There is a clamp that bolts to the firewall and the end of the column. Also, there is a metal strap just behind the instrument panel. Make sure both of them are tight. Good luck.

Re: column shifting issues
There should be a little tab that the column hole hooks into on the dash. Before you put on the clamp.

Re: column shifting issues
I looked at everything again. I MESSED UP. When I put it all back together the notch and nipple which act as the rotational stop for the steering weren't aligned. (AND HAVE NOW BENT THE TUBE HENCE NOT STOPPING CRAP) But there is a chance it can still work out maybe I can try to disassemble some of the linkage and bend some metal and apply some JB to patch the dent from the misaligned assembly... or I'm going to have to learn how to install a steering column and make a run to U-Pull... :/ didn't even notice that notch the first time...
