Aftermarket door panels

Anyone have trouble with the window crank shaft not sticking through the door panel enough to get the handle on? these are LMC panels.

I'll ask the dumb questions first. Did you change the trim panels from older to earlier year model? Did you change the window regulator as well? Certain year model regulators set back farther like that but had flatter trim panels to accommodate for it.

I have pretty well replaced everything, I used my regulators from my old doors. My truck is a 1979 and the replacement doors were 82-87. I didnt know there were different window regulators, first I have ever heard of it.

Yes, there are at least 2 different styles of manual regulators. But, I believe 77 and up all the way to 87 (91 for burb and crews) is the same one. So scratch that idea I guess.

You say you put new doors on and swapped regulators. The windows go up and down perfectly w/out the trim panel on I am guessing? Not a thing where the regulator is not installed correctly or something?

I have a 74 C-30 that I can measure the shaft length on, or maybe go to parts store and have them pull the parts to measure. I have only had my this 1979 for 5 years, who knows what could have been changed in the last 30 years. Thanks for the info, I will post pics if I find the problem.

You can usually tell by the trim panels. The 73-76 (I think) trim panels were a lot flatter, really hugged the inside door shell. In 77 and up the trim panels got a noticeable space between them and the door shell.
