Original seat or not?

I'm not sure if the seat in my 68 is original or has been recovered at some point..the sides are a much darker color than the pleated portion of the seat and I havent seen that on other seats before. Maybe its been repaired and thats why the difference in color?

Re: Original seat or not?

looks like correct pattern, but never seen one two-tone like that. If it's in good condition, which it looks like it is, then I'd be willing to guess it's not original, unless the truck is a real survivor and the it shows a little wear - equal to the amount on the truck.

EDIT - doesn't makes sense that it's been repaired - the worn part would be the top, and it is what looks to be the correct original color - matches the door panels, etc. Looks nice regardless!

Re: Original seat or not?

Its pretty much a survivor..original paint and very little rust but the seat has always baffled me..its almost too perfect and never have seen a two tone theme on any 69-72 before. Thought maybe a 67-68 thing?

Re: Original seat or not?

My 69 with the maroon interior seems darker around the edges also. My guess is it is original...

Re: Original seat or not?

Rob, I have seen pics that Mel put up of Bucket Seats in a survivor he has. It also was a 69-70 and had two tone colors. Trevor

Re: Original seat or not?

interesting - in the view FROM the driver's side, it looks like the upper (lighter) portion of the seat matches the door panel. In the view FROm the passenger side, it looks like the lower (darker) portion matches the door panels! Camera/mind trick.
