Getting ready to wire in my check engine light and was wondering what style bulb everyone is using where they are being placed and purchased. Please post picture and part# if possible thanks.

Re: What mil?
I used a small LED light and put it in my dash panel. it is below the Speedo next to the high beam light.

Re: What mil?
I used a small 12v led also but for some reason it has a faint glow while the truck is running but when the check engine light comes on its much brighter, someone suggested putting a small resistor on it but i haven't tried it yet, ether way you can get them for like a buck at radio shack type places I sodered small leads on mine with some connectors so I can take them out if needed.

Re: What mil?
In my '71 I put mine in the gas gauge where it used to say TEMP. I took apart a 87 dash and got the service engine part out of it and put it in my dash.

Re: What mil?
Mine was extremelly simple, I have a Dakota Digital dash which has an engine light built in, just connect the wire. This dash has more than paid for itself, everything just hooked up and only needed minor settings in the computer to work.

Re: What mil?
Mine isn't 100% yet, but like LS1nova, I have a factory-style CEL. I cut up a complete dash from a '89 Trans-Am GTA and modded it into a spare glovebox door to use as a gauge panel. I have custom but factory looking CEL, Seat belt, BRAKE, and turn signals/high beam lights now.

Re: What mil?
Thought I'd throw up a few pics of mine. It's out of an '87 Chevy truck, I put it in the "temp" spot of my '71since it's not used anyway. The opening is just big enough for the 'service engine' part, so you can't see the 'soon', actually I took a sharpie and blacked it out because you could just see a hint of it (it's noticeable in the pic, it was taken before I blacked it out). Pics aren't the best, I was holding it up to a light so it would be lit up, but you get the idea.
