ID this rear end, please?
I just got me this week a '68 chevy 3/4 ton long stepbed, inline 6 with 3 on the tree, and this rear end is under it, I know is a 10 bolt but what ratio is the most likely to be?
Thank you for any help. Fatman.

Thats the corporation diff / aka Eaton diff... in a 68 with a 6 cyl and a three speed I'd bet money on 457 ratio.

Its a pulling rear end.. not real highway friendly... 60 mph is pushing it... that 6cyl will be reving big time. But it is simple to put a set of 4.10 in... you can do it without even lifting the truck..., drain oil, pull the axles, disconnect drive shaft, take out the ten bolts at the forward part of rear of the diff...swap in the whole pumpkin from a 410 ratio...
reconnect drive shaft, slide axles back in, refill oil. Simple.

yep. and FYI the only lower gear set i know of for those toys is a 3.90, so not much help there. If you're lucky it might have a locker unit (or posi i cant recall) in it. 4.57 would definately be my guess as well though. Good luck

You can buy 4.10 or 3.90 still today if you want.... they only want $995 for the complete pumpkin... or $460 for the gears alone.... go ahead and buy them if you wish... but you might wanna talk to somebody and get a second price.. I have a few sets of 4.10.

Rod, any chance you micht wanna part with a 4.10 set up? I don't think my caddy motor will like the 4.56 in mine.
