Tilt column question

I acquired a tilt column (free) and was told that it was from a late 70's Chevy van. I am scratching my head as I look at it and try to figure out how this could actually work. My current column on my 72 LWB appears to be about 56" from rag joint to steering column nut. The tilt column is about 36" in length. I know this is supposed to be a fairly easy swap. What am I missing here? Any help appreciated.

Re: Tilt column question

Sounds like you are missing the intermdiate shaft that is in between the steering box and the column and if you got a van tilt you will have to shorten it buy about 3''
