Home Boy
I had this experience at the local pull-a-part (they destroyed it!) and so I had to have a 67-72 2WD SWB.

Re: Home Boy
I left a note asking to buy this one but got no call back. It was really straight. Sitting next to what looked like a personal shop. Someone's future project I guess.

Re: Home Boy
After looking at a couple overpriced trucks, I drove about 500 miles and paid $800 for this roller. Sorry for the crappy pix. No drivetrain, never driven, realized later it was just a finger tightened together collection of parts.

Re: Home Boy
I took it this far and decided to buy a driving LWB and salvage the frame and assorted parts from this first purchase. The pix get better I promise.

Re: Home Boy
Would you believe I couldn't get rid of this cab for $50? Had it on Craigslist for a few weeks. I took it and a few other things to the recyclers. Got about $120 for it. Don't fret. The cab had rust holes in the top, the bed floor folded in half it was so rusty, and the tailgate had a huge dent me and my buddy tried to straighten by driving over it with my daughter's Honda, really.
That big truck at the recyclers had a nice interior, blue dash pad, windshield, etc... Not too big a shame - I looked for tach, air, or vacuum gauges - not present. I almost got thrown out for climbing up to look it!

Re: Home Boy
I saved the bedsides (really bad shape), short frame, rear sport bumper, and 3.73 posi (pleasant surprise!) and a few other do dads. Parted what was of value that I would not use - some I still need to get rid of.

Re: Home Boy
Oh man I was all excited about this truck. I took a day off work and pulled my trailer for 5 hours each way. The owner I believe was honestly not knowedeable about the truck. I passed because he was firm on $4500 and said he had another buyer behind me.
High stall, loud exhaust, shot suspension. Super cheap body work. I pulled fist sized balls of bondo out of the cab corners. It had NO inner rockers at all. The VIN on the title didn't match the glovebox but it matched the WA State ID tag. I'm sure it would have been OK legally but the pedigre was not there.

Re: Home Boy
I was reviewing my Craigslist notification app one Friday afternoon on the way to Eastern Washington. I saw a donor target that was close so I called. The ad was something like: "1971 Chevy truck. Doesn't start. $700" My kinda price! So I called and it went something like this,
"Hi, I'm calling about your ad on Craigslist for a chevy truck." "Yea" "Do you still have it?" "Yea" "What's the story. Why are you selling it." "I just graduated High School and I'm getting a new car." "OK well what kind of shape is it in? The pix are kinda blurry." "Well my uncle put in a new starter and it doesn't work." "OK. Did you cut the dash for a stereo?" "Yea" "Did you cut the doors for speakers?" "Yea" <Me thinking... UGH forget it> "Well, what options does it have?" "Uh, I dunno." "Can you read me the label on the inside on the glovebox?" "Uh OK. C...E...1....4..." "No, no down lower..." "Oh, lookie there! Uh... bucket seats...." "WAIT oh.... are they still there?" "Uh yea..." "What's you address, I'm on my way!"

Re: Home Boy
I have my donor for shortening.
The personalized Montana plate plates in the tool box read, "HOME BOY". Reminded me of Eric Church's song by the same name. Cause this 'ol farm truck's goin' to the big city for a drop and 20's! You were too bad for a little square town With your hip hop hat and your pants on the ground Heard you cussed out mama, pushed daddy around You tore off in his car Here you are runnin' these dirty old streets Tattoo on your neck, fake gold on your teeth Got the hood here snowed but you can't fool me We both know who you are Homeboy, you're gonna wish one day You were sittin' on the gate of a truck by the lake With your high school flame on one side Ice cold beer on the other My vision is something like this - but with PATINA <i.e. cheaper>:

Re: Home Boy
A member asked for a recent pic. This was last summer. Home Boy has been in another garage all winter while I finished the stepside. Which I sold a couple days ago. So HB will be seeing some action soon!

Re: Home Boy
I have changed to D2600 bags on schraders in the back and cut 1/2 coil out of the front. This ride height is about as low as I dare.

Re: Home Boy
That seems like a lot of drop for just 1/2 coil out of the front. Or did you cut 1/2 of the spring? I cut 1 coil and got about 2".
