66 2/4 drop options
Hi, I'm trying to determine what I need and where to get a quality drop kit for my 66' short stepside. I just want a moderate drop and I think a 2/4 drop is going to be my choice. I see people using 2" drop spindles but since I have drum brakes that is out. I am looking at a kit from ECE that has the springs, shocks, shock relocator and panhard bar. But, I'm not sure if this would be a quality kit or what brands and options I should take a look at. Any opinions/ideas?

ECE = quality parts!
Not sure you, but I think you can still use your original panhard bar with a 4" drop. Might not need the relocators either, someone will chime in on that. So you should be looking at springs and shocks, then call it a day. Dano

Yeah what he said, get a set of drop springs. With time throw some new springs on there. You can buy front drop springs for around 100. There go from 1-4 drop I think , all same prices and for rear springs throw some jeep springs on there. They drop 4 inch. Probley 30$ used. 130 in springs and new shocks. Not to bad at all. And if you want you can run stock shocks with those springs for a while. Iv found 2-3 people on here that did. No issues.

Re: 66 2/4 drop options
I would go with a 2/3 drop first. 2" springs if your not going with disc brakes. 4" drop will require new shocks and an adjustable pan hard bar. The Jeep springs make the ride too soft from what I have heard.
Are you going to tow with the truck? if so, put disc brakes on it! buy the brake stuff from a donor, get drop spindles and your dropped 2.5" easily. stock shocks and your good to go.

Re: 66 2/4 drop options
Thanks, I won't be towing. Just hauling motorcycles around now and than. I just ordered the 2/4 Premium drop kit from Early Classic. Looks like a pretty nice kit. It comes with the KYB shocks with relocator and the Panhard bar also.

Looks like I am a day late on recommending Belltech's spindle and coil combo.
