Steering gear boxes

OK here is the deal... I just acquired a matched set of axles from a '72 K20 for my burb, and the open knuckle disc brake D44 has power steering components. While my current closed knuckle D44 is set up for manual steering gear box.

So can I still use my manual steering gear box with this new old open knuckle disc brake D44?

If I can continue to use my manual gear box after upgrading the axle, that would be good for my budget and time. Plus converting to power steering on a 1968 K20 will require an adapter, since the frame is flat sided and a power steering box requires the dimples to install hence requiring an adapter.

Personally I don't mind the manual steering set up, so if I can plan that as a later upgrade project all the better.

Re: Steering gear boxes

Sure I would think that work fine as long as your current steering componets connect up the same = draglink..the axel won't care were the input is coming from as long as it doesn't bind..
