Re: how to install cab molding on my 77
the clips get riveted on and you push the moulding up and clip it in

try brothers, lmctruck or classicparts.com for the clips you need, they do sell them so attach it correctly

Re: how to install cab molding on my 77
my buddy and I are going to use double sided foam tape on his cab band so we dont have to drill into it, this stuff makes canopies a PITA to get off so i figured it would hold fine

Re: how to install cab molding on my 77
alot of the body supply shops have the clips i got some extras from Albert Kemperle in NJ
there are also two holes that hold on the corners at least on the newer models heres a place that has some all kinds for all cars FA1286 is the one i used pictured on this site http://www.mrgusa.com/pdfs/34-39mclips.pdf I would not use that 2 sided tape.. LMC sells rail caps and tailgate caps i have on my truck and both times that product failed and the items came loose and off..

Re: how to install cab molding on my 77
If you prep the surface properly, and do it at the right ambient temperature, it won't come off. Ive worked with 3M tape for years in the accessory business, and its ALL in the prep work. The tape in the picture wont work as its just mainly a foam tape to protect the trucks paint, but the tape with the red backing will work.

Re: how to install cab molding on my 77
im wanting to do this with my 82 that came without it from factory.
so from what i take, the red backed 3m stuff can hold fairly well? for the trim, its not just flat on the back side(side against cab) it has folded over rails along the edges where it pops or slides on the studs. so how exactly would you tape that?

Re: how to install cab molding on my 77
Exactly, I have the same question. I got a band+corners for my truck, but I donīt want to drill holes in the cab. But the way the band is shaped I think it will be difficult to "tejp" on.

Re: how to install cab molding on my 77
I used the tape on mine a year ago, ended up taking the trim off, almost impossible witho out bending the trim, held great. For the gap your asking about i used foam tape that was sticky on one side, they have it at lowes and use if you installing toppers on beds, then the surface was flat, i put thin tape on the top and bottom and then a piece down the middle worked great. I plan on doing that again when i re-install the trim.
