65 GMC V6 truck motor questions.
My local junk yard just got in a '65 GMC with the stock V6, What's the deal with it? High torque? Worth while? Looks like it runs.

Terry, I have a 65 GMC with the 305E V-6 in it and yes they are stump pullers. They are basically more of a dump truck motor then a pickup truck motor. In fact they were put in many dump trucks and big trucks back then. They have a lot of low-end torque for their size and they are actually over-built so they last a long time and will tolerate a lot more then a regular v-6 or v-8 pickup motor. They are not so good on gas and are not so good on a hwy since they are not a high revving motor. But if you plan on using the truck as a truck and not driving it at high speeds for a long time like on a long trip then you cannot go wrong. But they are not as easy to find parts for so keep that in mind..............Ed.
