ebay score: 66 Silver Book

I won this on ebay the other day. I was the only bidder. I couldnt believe it. 55 dollars! I seen the last one go for like 300. I been waiting like 5 years to get one of these. Its in great shape. It had a cover letter in it describing what it is. "Additional copies ar availible for 2.00 each" lol. I was somewhat dissapointed. I didnt really know what was contained in it. It is a selling companion for the salesman showing additional equipment that is availible for all the truck models. Big and small. Campers, topppers, plows, tanks, and the like. I also have a incomplete Chevy truck data book. That has more of the truck specifications of all the models(measurments). I also have a Chevy truck parts book(orig). I almost have a complete set of literature for the 66 year. I have several dealer brochures as well. Truck, Suburban, Custom Camper and they are all original and in good condition. Just thought i would share!

I think you may be talking about the Chevy Truck Data Book. I think its supposed to have a dark blue cover with silver lettering. I have an incomplete one myself(no cover). Lots more info than the "Silver Book".

the rest of the title of the silver book is "engineered vocational equipment for chevrolet trucks"
it is more of a novelty now for what you could get for your truck... since it is aimed at work vehicles most of the stuff is for big trucks, and most of the stuff you could get, while being a cool find, wouldn't see much duty any more, except for the hardcore restoration crowd.

I was able to find the exact flatbed/cattle rack that was ordered for my 66 60 series.

I also found the "traction assist" for a 64 80 series that I got to part out... it was basically a dump bin for sand mounted in front of the rear tires...

mostly I look at it an dream about being in a dealership in 60-66 with unlimited cash, and ordering one of everything!

a better book for info on a 1/2 ton would be the salesmans truck data book, or any of the dealer literature that is still out there.

I have the engineer book for 63, but have been looking for a 63 silver book for awhile. Dont pop up to often.
