New Wheels... but what are they from?

I bought 5 of these wheels, the guy gave me a beat up center cap as an example of what I can do with these. I am going to blast them, paint them black, and put fresh rubber on them for now. I will want to get some nice center caps and beauty rings for them, and having those would repaint them silver.

Can anyone tell me what year/style truck these are from? Can I get new/reproduction center caps and beauty rings for them?

80's 4x4 chevy/gmc. If you want them closed you will need 2 rear sets.

The people above think you are asking where the center caps come from, not the wheels.

The wheels are aftermarket wheels, very popular in the late 70's and 80's, a lot of different manufacturers. The wheels you have to appear to be tapped for the Chevy center caps. The comment on the two closed ones simply means you will want two open for the front, so your hubs can pass through, and two closed for the back with the logos on them.

Okay, I think I get it now. I am 2WD, so I could go with 4 closed caps

I have to disagree, those are factory GM white spoke wheels that came on 4wd's in the late 70's, early 80's.

For center caps, you can use either 4 rear caps, or 4 front caps. If you use the front caps, you can fill the centyers with either small convex mirrors, or like I did on mine, round pieces of stainless steel. You can also use '90's to 2000 model 6 lug center caps. Those will require the special lug nuts.

Thanks Captain, I see now as well that if I want to use them I will first need to increase the inside diameter of the center hole. They will not fit over my front or rear hubs. I can probably return them. Maybe I can drill and tap holes in my Westerns to take aftermarket 70's/80's Chevy center caps, they look like they will accept the beauty rings. I know where I can get my hands on one to do a test fit. I could always blast and paint my westerns if the chrome looks dumb...

Opinions anyone?

Those wheels should fit over the hubs on your truck just fine. The 4wd ralley wheels fit just fine, so these should too.

The lug pattern is correct, but they do not go over the hubs, front or rear (I tried). I have a buddy with some Machine Shop equipment, should not be a big deal to increase the ID on them.

That is strange. My ralley wheels fit without modifcation. Two of them are a little tight, but they do fit over the hubs and drum registers. If they are not very much too small, a sanding drum might work also.

I have run into that problem with the 73-87 solid steel wheels a couple of times, just a hair too small on some of my trucks... the lug nuts will pop them on, but good luck trying to get 'em off, on one we had to take the lug nuts off and then pull it about 30 feet to loosen it up!

Looks like those wheels came on later model trucks of the 80's. I remember though when I was a kid watching Chips and the blond cop had a chevy stepside and it had those rims on it or something similar. The story is here: http://www.pickuptrucks.com/html/sto...ups/page2.html

If they don't fit over your hubs they could possibly be the stock wheels from a Jeep Wagoneer 4x4 from the 70's - 80's. They were six lug and alot of them came from the factory with wheels very similar to yours.

okay, so rinsed off the dirt and rattle canned one gloss black, and one with aluminum (all I had), you would have to imaging the P245 60 15's, the beauty rings, and the center caps. like I said I can always change my mind, could even go white which would pick up the black/white colour scheme.
