Powder Coating Intake??????????

I am going to buy and Edelbrock RPM intake and was wondering how much it would cost to get it powder coated clear. It will be brand new so there wont be much if any need for prep work. I want this done because I want the intake to stay new looking. I don’t want it to start rusting like most other intakes do. I also want it to be easally cleaned when it does get dirty. Also where can I get this done? Is there another easyer or different way to go about doing this? Please give me all your idea guys. Thanks

Look in your yellow pages. Some shops can do this for you for as little as 25 bucks, others will laugh at you for asking.

Your intake won't rust, it's aluminium. As far as powder coating clear, I'm not convinced that the clear won't yellow over time. There may be other options. Ceramic coating can be polished to a near chrome look. Zoops makes a clear coat that won't yellow but it's $100 (That'll probably do 2 intakes so you could split it with someone), Good Luck.

I got a quote in Phx for $10 a manifold with a $30 Min. So that would be 3 for $30. Seemed low to me, but they have been very reasonable on everything they have done for me.

I've had several intakes powdercoated with a chrome then cleared finish. They have never yellowed - even the one on my '93 that has functional (high heat) EGR passages.

Worst case scenario.

If with age and heat the powdercoating starts to peel on the underside of the intake. It will fall into the lifters.

I'd go with ceramic, can be a power advantage too as it insulates the intake.

What kind of place would do a ceramic coating on an intake for me? Do the powdercoating people do that or is there something else i should look up in the yellow pages? Whats the cost approximate for a ceramic coating? Thanks
