Truck on CL...not mine
Here is a link to a truck I found on CL. I think its pretty undeniable that the patina on the truck looks fantastic. Am I crazy or is this guy asking a bit too much. Wish I coulve got this baby before he put any work into it, maybe I couldve afforded it then!

Re: Truck on CL...not mine
That was a buddy of mines truck and sold it on Ebay in 1 day, the guy had to have it. I couldn't believe he got that kind of money out of it, looks cool but very rusty.

Re: Truck on CL...not mine
like the look, but my jury is still out on the price. Patina is cool, but it IS patina - and sometimes it's rust. Recall the original popularity was based on the fact that one could get a cool ride for cheap by not painting and maybe using just a little clr. Now the prices are off to the races for patina too. Oh well. I do like the truck, but I fear patina trucks are rapidly out-pricing themselves. Not bashing this truck or the asking price - I'm making this observation on stuff across the board as something I'm seeing in our hobby everywhere. I like the general idear of patina, but rust aint cool when you pay an arm and a leg for it. Ok, I'll shut up now. I'm afraid our hobby is going to be at the Ferrari owner's level of entry pretty soon, that's all. And all of us will be missing the days when trucks were the "less" expensive option - and we all felt it was the best kept secret and liked it that way. I must be gettin old, I sound like my dad.

Doesn't look like a barn find, more like a treeline find with that much fading.
I like patina, but that truck is just a rust bucket. No offense to the owner, but patina is only cool to me on a solid truck. |

I'd rather see that and know exactly what I got, then a freshly painted truck with questionable work. I like it, but I know if I brought it home my wife would only see a rust bucket.
