driveshaft quistion
a guy at work offered to trade me transmissions because i want the 3 speed manual, and he wants the th350, problem is that he has a 68 shortbed and i have a 71 longbed, would we have to get new driveshafts or would we be able to use the ones that we have in the trucks or is the one for the automatic in my longbed than the one for the standard. Also what would this do for my gas mileage.

if the 68 has a saginaw 3 spd(id by a 7 bolt side cover), it will be a direct swap with a short 350 turbo(6 " tail housing). The spline will be the same, no driveline mods. One of you will have to swap crossmembers tho......the 3 spd stick will bolt to the auto crossmember, but the stick has a bell mount crossmember & will need to be changed to mount the auto trans. If the guy has the Muncie 3 spd(4 bolt side cover).......you dont want it! they are a weak trans. good luck, crazyL
