Tire and wheel combo ?

My son and I are nearing the end of our three year project 66 step side. He wants to run 17x8 torque thrust II's but we still don't have the fenders on. Any advice on what size tire we can fit or backspace would be appreciated. We have the original axle we are going to re-drill to 5 on 5 and we want a wider tire on the back.

Re: Tire and wheel combo ?

Personally I think no bigger than an 18" rim. Tires, I would say somewhere around 255/50 R18's maybe. Check out tirerack for good combos. I may end up going with 18" denali stock wheels on mine.
