Some Good...Some Bad....
Well I found the problems with the truck not starting after sitting 6 months. Turned out the fuel pump sprung a leak, as well as a few brittle 33 year old wires that needed replaced.
Thanks to EdB and his bud Robert for the help. Put on a new fuel pump and filter today and Ta Da....no start. ![]() Ugghh. More looking and now it also apears the carb is not working. No squirtie. Pulled carb filter and pulled carb top off and it all seems to be working OK, just nothing getting through. Tried some carb cleaner to loosen things up, but still dead. Yanked carb and I guess I try and look it over to see if it will function. ![]() Also if I have to replace this carb...I want to get one with electric choke...Does anyone know what year/modelS came with the electronic choke set up. Currently I have a Rochester Monojet for a 250 CID six and it doesn't have anything but manual choke hook up (numbers said it was off a 69 250). Some day it'll move again!! ![]()

the first thing tolook for is gas getting through the gas filter sometimes that gets dried out and gummed solid

tap, tap
Tap the carb LIGHTLY, VERY LIGHTLY if you're strong, especially while someone else is turning the engine over. The float or more specifically the needle is probably hung up in the seat. If that doesn't work, the gas may have "varnished" over the winter. Smell the gas. If it smell like gas it's OK. If it smells like varnish you're going to have to clean the whole fuel system out.....Zoomy

6 months shouldn't be enough time to gum up the fuel... I fired the GMC up on 2 year old stale fuel.
