Thinking about getting rid of the truck already

OK, so here's the issue, cruised the 67' out to the Good-Guys this year, just me and the kids, and realized, trucking ain't for family cruising. Basically a family of 4 can't cruise in a truck, and I want it to be a whole family deal, and I'm not sure the wife is really into the truck, and I'm certain that if we had something we could all cruise in, she'd be down for any show. Problem is for me to get rid of the truck, I have to find something that is in as good of shape and as drivable, in my price range, and for me it has to be old.(a Blazer would work that could be a tough order) Who knows what I'll do, I just had to get that off my chest. Wish me luck, and hopefully no regrets in whatever direction I go.

Blazer is the way I went in the same situation. I also love old Jeepsters, but that's for a different forum.

Re: Thinking about getting rid of the truck already

Nah... Id go after a 4 door malibu or wagon... Anything 60s to 72. There have been a couple nice ones for sale in my area and theyre very affordable.... Once you drop the chevelle part of the name and add a couple doors the price goes way down.

I faced the very same issue, many years ago. I found a blazer, and it has been my favorite vehicle ever!

Re: Thinking about getting rid of the truck already

I am living this story right now!!! I have a 3 year old and another one on the way, just sold my 49 bagged 5 window a week ago as I needed a back seat, found an 82 Blazer and was ready to pull the trigger then found a couple of bagged 2 door Tahoes (from the 90's) closer to home, and was about to go look at these and then found a 72 Bagged Suburban that needs some finishing (just glass installed, painless wiring kit etc) with an LT4....DONE! I get it tomorrow morning. Ideally I could have found a 2 wd Blazer (C10) but as everyone says, "Good luck with that" ha ha.
Keep searching there is something out there for the right price that will fit you!

Post your truck for sale or trade for a blazer is what I would do.

How about some pictures?

Sounds to me like you just need another truck for your wife to drive. Then you can fight over the better behaving kid

Re: Thinking about getting rid of the truck already

I'm gonna agree with 67ChevyRedneck. I went to the DSM Good Guys & saw a number of wagons what were KILLER. I do love these trucks but would be PROUD to drive the Black 65/66 Wagon lookin bagged on 20s wearing 427 fender badges. My 15yo admitted he'd be ok gettin dropped off at school in it.

On another note, was your truck IN the show? Tell me what it looks like & there's a good chance I snapped a pick of it.

Re: Thinking about getting rid of the truck already

I struggle with this all the time. There are a lot of cool 4 doors out there. There's a really nice Nova for sale locally that I would love to have, but I'm not sure I could ever part ways with the truck since it has so many childhood memories.

Re: Thinking about getting rid of the truck already

My wife and I toyed with this idea as well. Her problem is if it is a suv that it should have 4 wheel drive. I wanted a 2 wheel drive burb but shes not into it. Now we are looking for a 60's convertible for her. The whole family will fit in it and I can still keep my rust bucket.

Re: Thinking about getting rid of the truck already

Going through the swap meet at the Good-Guys there was a 69' Impala station wagon, that I thought to myself " I wonder if they'd be interested in a trade" but I wasn't at the point I am now so thats as far as it went, now I'm kinda kicking myself.

Here it is, former Arizona truck living in Ohio.

Re: Thinking about getting rid of the truck already

i'm in the same boat. i would love to have a 2wd burb or blazer or some big gm wagon. i would just love to have my big block dropped in something that doesn't look fast. i missed a burb a couple years ago that had the frontend wrecked on it but was solid, bu the time i found it the guy sold it the weekend before for $350. i did get to look it over to make things worse because the new owner hadn't had time to pick it up and wouldn't sell it.

Well my friend, I have already stared at that one, and I would love to own it, but I couldn't come up with the difference. If by some miracle something changes we'll be in touch
