Exclamation When should you use chrome moly pushrods?

I have a non-roller 350 bored .60 with vortec heads (worked over), LT4 Hot Cam, roller lifters, roller rockers, and comp cam beehive springs.

would flex be an issue with the normal push rods should make about 400hp with a 6200 redline?

cam spec;
This hydraulic roller cam is for service only for all V8 engines with
roller camshafts. The duration at lash point in degrees
(intake/exhaust) is 279/287; duration at .050" tappet lift
(intake/exhaust) is 218/228; and maximum lift with 1.6 rocker ratio
(intake/exhaust) is 525/525. Valve lash is zero/zero and lobe
centerline is 112 degrees.

A stock heat treated steel pushrod may live, but WHY RISK IT,, a set of good chromemoly pushrods is like $120. If it wasn't for the .525 lift I'd probably not sweat it,, but what is the installed PSI on the springs and spring rate? I bet your probably up close to 375-400 on the nose and THAT,, at 6000+ I'd sure not risk it.

But if your just going to cruise it around and never spin it up,,, probably fine with a standard pushrod. Just keep in mind, most of the 'heat treat' is typically only the tips to prevent wear. If you start bending / breaking em,,, I guess hindsight will be real clear.

I don't think I'd spend my money on just a heat treated set. I spent a little over $80 for a set of 5/16" chromemoly p-rods... direct from Trend.
