87 3/4 ton LWB lowering questions and advise
Trying to get the rear down a bit. What should I use? Would the shackles be enough? I still need the truck to tow a 27' trailer.
I also would like the wheels and tires to fill in the fenders better. Succestions on Wheel and tire size? I would like to go to a 18' wheel, But the Tire size I am having a hard time with. There are some great long bed trucks I have seen with about what I am looking for. I am still trying to get some pics of My daughters truck posted on here. Thanks for the site guys. I love the information. |

DJM Makes a hanger and shackle kit for 3/4 tons. It lowers 4 in the rear. That would probably take up the space in the wheel well

Thanks for the info. If I went down four in the back- would down 2 in the front be good? Sorry, new to this.

Wondering about wheels and tire combos. Really like the old style wider/taller in the rear. But I have to tow so that limits my choice of tire, right? |

Welcome to the forum.
Your best bet is to start looking at pics and find the look you are going for. You can still tow your trailer at any height. Just be sure not to remove any leaf springs. You might need to put air bags in the back depending how heavy the trailer is. Heres a good place to start http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=303486 |

2" is supposed to level it. DJM sells a 3/4 drop kit which would keep a slight rake.

Re: 87 3/4 ton LWB lowering questions and advise
Dingman, a 2in drop shackles will lower the rear the way you want in your first example pic, but the wheel and tire combos you want to change to are 5 lug 1/2 ton. Do you plan on a 1/2 ton conversion on your truck? I would assume pulling a 27ft trailer you would want to keep it 3/4 ton.

Re: 87 3/4 ton LWB lowering questions and advise
they make an 18" six lug. tire size imo, need to be around 27" tall in the front, and about 28" in the rear.

Re: 87 3/4 ton LWB lowering questions and advise
Ya, going to keep it 3/4 ton. I think some black wheels, maybe15x10.5 in the back, and 15x8.5 in front. will the 15's fit on the 3/4 ton?

Re: 87 3/4 ton LWB lowering questions and advise
I'm not aware of any 15in 8 lug wheels out there, just 16, 16.5, 18, and 20's.

Re: 87 3/4 ton LWB lowering questions and advise
They do make them but, most of them won't fit because the brakes are too large for the wheels to fit over them

Re: 87 3/4 ton LWB lowering questions and advise
Ya, THe brakes are too large. for the 15's . I am thinking the two inch shackels in the rear and a good set of wheels and tires leave it alone.
I want the wheels and tires to be flush with the side of the ruck.... Thanks for all the help. I really need another one...>SWB for me I think... FEVER is getting me |

Re: 87 3/4 ton LWB lowering questions and advise
I have 15" american racing rims on my 77' 3/4 ton short bed step side. You can get 15" 8 lugs that don't require any grinding on the calipers and rotors all day. Just make sure when you buy them the backspace is 2.75" or you will be doing some grinding. Go to google and type in Pro Comp 15" 8 lug 2.75" and it will bring them up. They're $59.00 each! I plan on buying some next week. Go to my photo's and check out mine!
