230 Rebuild Pics

Here are a couple of pics of my rebuilt 230 that I put in my 64 GMC. It started up well and we broke it in right. Have put about 120 miles on in city traffic. Today, coming home I turned a corner and it stalled. When I started it up, it ran so rough it would hardly move. Any suggestions what I need to check out?

Re: 230 Rebuild Pics

I,d check the tension of your manifold bolts, these will come loose when warmed up after new gasket put on. Also try a quality manifold gasket, the ones in rebuild kits are usually crap. hope this helps

Could be going around a corner disloged something in the fuel tank and it choked up a line or your filter. disconnect the the fuel line from the pump and force some air back into the tank. Iv'e been there and done that.

Re: 230 Rebuild Pics

Id start w/fuel system. Check filter first and make sure to put a filter before the fuel pump also to keep trash out of it.

Re: 230 Rebuild Pics

Ok, seems I found the problem, or at least one of the problems. I have a broken exhaust valve spring in the number 2 cylinder. Any ideas how one breaks a spring? Should I be looking for some other problem that caused the spring to break? Appreciate any suggestions you guys can give me.
