Show us your Radio install.
I just finished (Well almost finished) installing a 53 dash in my 54 Chevy. I HATE the 54 dash. I really don't want the radio in the stock location even though that is probably the best spot for it. Post up your radio install no matter where they are.

Re: Show us your Radio install.
Not sure this will work in your truck, i mounted this radio under the front seat in the '51 suburban. The radio is small and you could mount it somewhere in your truck..

Re: Show us your Radio install.
i made this for mine but put my radio in the filler panel under the dash. note i made the filler panel. if you want the one i made for the orignal speaker grill you can have it just pay for shipping.

Re: Show us your Radio install.
I took a stock GM radio from a 90s Beretta and put it into a 57 radio frame. I used stock '57 knobs and a dark green faceplate. Unfortunately it stopped working and it's not in the truck now.
BTW, is this lextech that is / was on the Pacific Performance forum? Last edited by 1project2many; 07-18-2012 at 07:44 PM. |

Re: Show us your Radio install.
i am thinking about mounting mine above the windshield in the center. it shouldnt interfere with the sunvisors and have never liked the look of a modern radio in the classic dash.

I used a couple of small hinges I picked up from Lowes (or Home Depot, I cant remember which) for less than $3. Magnets keep it closed. I'll finish it off by adding a small cable to keep it from bottoming out.

Re: Show us your Radio install.
Mobileortho---That is pretty slick, I may have to steal that. I looked into the "Custom Auto Sound" Hidden setup. I like it but it is not iPhone compatible---I am a diehard iPhone guy. Maybe I could get A/C vents on either side of the stereo behind the speaker grill--Hhmmm.

Re: Show us your Radio install.
Thanks Jeff, but I can't take credit for the idea. I initially saw it on Kustombrads build 49 no buck$. As far as the a/c vents go, there should be enough room to install a couple of vents back there.
