any pics of 3 speed shift box assembled?
took my shifter box apart to repaint and ordered new rubber parts. Mine were all gone so i wanted to know if there are any pics of one rebuilt with all bushings in place. This is the part that attaches to the lower steering column under the hood that moves the rods to the 3 speed tranny. Also need to know how the rods attach. Any rubber parts involved in that end?
Thanks |

Re: any pics of 3 speed shift box assembled?
The manual doesn't really show detail on the shift box. I know where the top hat shaped shift lever bushings go, in both flat arms of the shift box. My problem is I don't know where the shift tube grommet or the shift linkage grommet with the metal sleeve goes. Says I need 4 of them. This is for a 3 spd manual

Re: any pics of 3 speed shift box assembled?
Here's a pic of mine. The four bushings go in the shifter arms at the box and on the transmission. I used nylon bushings from the hardware store for mine. They were a perfect fit and I had to press them in. If they wear out I will order the correct style but for now it shifts good and tight. You have to remove the box and slip the rubber boot over the shaft to get it in place. The shift lever on the column should be horizontal when it's in the neutral position per the FSM. This is set by the clamp sleeve on the shift tube. The pin on the bottom of the box locates it relative to the coluumn tube and prevents the box from moving when shifting gears. With the tranny in neutral and shift rods attached you adjust the length so that the arms on the box are horizontal and parallel with each other. I have changed valve covers since this pic so I have more clearance now.
