what oil filter do you use?
finally put my new comp cam in the truck and put the rebuilt heads back on. drove it for about 3 days and figured i would change the oil....picked up 6 quarts of Lucas 10W-40 Semi-Synthetic Motor Oil a month ago at the local performance shop. but didnt get a filter, kinda wanted to see what of oil filter everybody uses....or prefers. ive been kinda switching off between K&N and Napa Gold. i will stay away from Fram.

I use Wix 51061. That's who also makes the Napa Gold Filters.

Re: what oil filter do you use?
I always use a 51061 Wix but a AC-Delco PF1218 works for me provided my parts store has it in stock...
A 51794 is also a better choice for the extra oil capacity, but!...Sucks trying to change the filter with long tube headers without spilling it all over the place!

I use the Baldwin B7. It's a 2 quart filter, 20 micron.

Re: what oil filter do you use?
Don't get your panties in a bind
Used the FRAM 2qt filter for many a moon with no problems, getting harder to find anymore so I switched over to the Wix 2qt filter where my local parts store carries all the time Uploaded with ImageShack.us |

Re: what oil filter do you use?
Looking like a Fram or Wix for me... glad I went and pulled this out of the archives - thought I would comment again to bring it back into discussion.

Re: what oil filter do you use?
I agree with the majority ... AC or WIX. WIX is the only filter I use on my Harley Davidson

Re: what oil filter do you use?
The AC Delco filters are made by Champ, and are identical to the STP filters sold by Autozone, but the STP filters cost about $2 less a piece.

Re: what oil filter do you use?
I run either Mobil 1 filters or Purolator Pure 1 filters when I can. K&N is a good choice as well. I guess I should admit since I'm an Amsoil dealer I also would recommend their line but could be hard to find in some areas.
For the record on an extreme performance engine I use Amsoil but for everything else, Mobil 1 oil gets the nod. Film strength and rate of evaporation are the 2 critical aspects to judge an oil by....without getting too far of topic here.....lol |
