1950 GMC Front Fender Mods
Hello Everyone, Looking for some advice on new aftermarket front fender mods for our 50 GMC. We purchased a new set of front fenders and were told they are a direct bolt in for a Chevy but, will need to be modified to fit a GMC. Has anyone been down this path before? If so, could you please share what needs to be done to get the right fit and finish?
Thanks! |

What "brand" of fenders did you purchase? Besides the lower light hole which needs drilled, what other modification are you talking about?

Re: 1950 GMC Front Fender Mods
I will look tomorrow. I think the fenders are the same but the light holes Like AspecialZ said. I think the grill mount holes in the inner fenders are different but the shape is the same as the chevys. I have chevy fender for my 52 but it has been a couple years sence I had a good look at both fenders! I remember thinking it is an easy swap.

I checked and the only difference. is the parking light holes. The grilles are like I said in my last post.

Re: 1950 GMC Front Fender Mods
This is Crusinforty's wife.
We were told (by the parts supplier) that the grill is different in the GMC than the Chevy, and that they are not repopping new fenders for GMC, just the Chevy. Also said that the fenders could be modified to fit the GMC grill by removing a portion of original fender around grill and mounting onto new fenders. Hope this makes sense. Has anyone had to do this modification to make the fenders fit around the GMC grill? Thanks. |

Re: 1950 GMC Front Fender Mods
Your parts guy is confused.
Top left is my 52 GMC note the hole under the headlight is for the parking light Top right is a 51 chevy Bottom left is the 51chevy thet I marked up Bottom right is the wheel well from my 52 GMC. the 3 holes on the left are where the fender and the gmc grille suround mount. the 3 holes on the right are were the geille mounts the Grille on the gmc dosen't touhh the fenders. |

Re: 1950 GMC Front Fender Mods
Thanks everyone for the help! Sound like an easy swap. I Will try to post pictures tomorrow. I plan to re-use the GMC inner fenders so grille should fit fine. Should just be the parking light I have to deal with like you guys said. I really like this forum! Great people and great info!

Re: 1950 GMC Front Fender Mods
Looks like I just have to drill holes some holes to mount the parking lights and do a little filler work. Here are the pictures too. These are from Tri Plus Automotive. Made in Taiwan . Thanks again for all the help!
